US Virgin Islands Senate, on Friday, unanimously voted to decriminalize cannabis in the Virgin Islands of St. John, St. Thomas and St. Croix. In October, 2014, Governor de Jongh vetoed the same bill; however, since the senate also has the veto power, it utilized the power to overturn his ruling and allow the bill to pass in the parliament. This resulted in decriminalization of Marijuana throughout the US Virgin Islands.

While there are states that are legalizing Marijuana, there are few that are suing others for legalizing it. Nebraska and Oklahoma have challenged the legal status of medical marijuana in the state of Colorado. The two states have asked the US Supreme Court to nullify the law that made Marijuana legal in Colorado stating that it violates the federal law. They also say that they are not suing Washington though medical marijuana is legal in it as well because it is not a border state to them.
